18th Engineer Regiment
1895 - 1918
Peter Erickson was born on the 12th of January, 1895 in Sweden to Erik Erickson and Magdalena Karlsdotter.
He immigrated to the United States in 1908 and enlisted into the army at age of 22 where Erickson served in the 18th Engineer Regiment.
"The need for engineer troops for construction work was extremely urgent. As the regiments of engineers reached France they were immediately assigned to the most pressing duties. The first 12 engineer regiments debarked in French ports in the summer and autumn of 1917 in the following order:"
Erickson died on the 10th of August, 1918 near Bordeaux, France from Pneumonia which could have been the complications of the Spanish Flu.
